Rwanda Extends 2026 Promotional Gorilla Trekking Permit Rates
The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has officially announced the extension of promotional gorilla trekking permit rates until 31 December 2026, reinforcing Rwanda’s position as a leading and accessible primate tourism destination in Africa.
This initiative aims to encourage domestic, regional, and African residents to experience the iconic mountain gorillas of Volcanoes National Park at reduced rates, while continuing to support conservation and sustainable tourism.
2026 Promotional Gorilla Permit Rates – Volcanoes National Park
Under the extended promotion, the following special rates apply:
1. Rwandans & East African Citizens
- Permit Cost: USD 200 per person
- Requirements:
- National ID
- Valid passport
- Birth certificate (where applicable)
2. Africans & African Residents
- Permit Cost: USD 500 per person
- Requirements:
- Valid passport
- Resident ID or Diplomatic Card
- Valid visa with at least 4 consecutive months of residency
Important Notice
- The promotional rates will NOT apply between June and October 2026, which is considered peak travel season.
- Standard permit rates will apply during this period.
